It’s an old adage but “Time and tide wait for no man” which basically says “do it now and don’t wait around, big stupid... cause it might be too late later on” made a lot of sense over the week.
Longstrap was booked at one our regular Summer places... just another gig. Our friend Dave was starting his video production company and wanted to film a few songs. We thought nothing of it until he gave us a disc with the following video.
Please visit Dave’s YouTube page to see his latest projects.... and he’s also a very talented keyboardist & air hockey shark.
Kudos to the marketing company that tried to make insurance cool and sexy.
Wouldn't it be great to show up to an acoustic gig with just a plastic cup?
This was partly inspired by the Cup Game from the PBS children's program, Zoom, and a recent news story. There was a physical therapy class that was using the Cup Game to keep a class of senior citizens active. The story reminded me of the bit from Zoom and it didn't seem as difficult as the Arm Trick or speaking Ubbi-Dubbi.
Just so happens I had a Red Solo Cup in the kitchen and decided to try it myself. I quick Google search later, I could get through the motions but it sounded like a car with a square wheel. Once I had it down, I quickly did the recording while it was fresh in my head. The next day, I could kinda make it through the beat but it was slowly slipping away.
Trivia: Although the video is only 25 seconds long, it is more gratifying than the time I sang the Toby Keith single, Red Solo Cup, at a show.
