"I left Twitter because of Roblox. Or rather I made the decision when I was telling my 7 year old off because she was playing it too much and I realised I was standing holding my wife's phone (I don't own one) and looking at a comic-book creator randomly and angrily swearing at no-one in particular that they should wear a mask and a hashtag calling for the firing of a lady who reads the news on British TV for something I can't even remember. I actually paused and wondered what the Hell I was doing. I was living in The Matrix, getting angry or delighted by nothing in particular while dead-eyed Jack Dorsey sits back in his giant electric egg and feeds on our passions like they're M&Ms."
"Basically, I realised that I was completely wasting my time as much as my seven year old was as she built a house in Brook Haven, but as a man I should know better. So I logged off, handed the account over to our brilliant marketing team in LA (who run our Facebook and Instagram pages) and stepped back into the real world."

I've been 'the internet voice of Pearl Drums US' since starting our MySpace in the late 90's and eventually progressing to our current social media platforms. If you've ever received a Comment, Like, Follow, Reshare, or Message from Pearl US, then that was (and continues to be) me. It's a complete joy to interact daily with the worldwide drum community. There's always something new to learn and it's a huge plus when I can assist someone in furthering their passion and knowledge for drumming.
We recently hit the 500K mark on Pearl's instagram and I'm thankful that we have such a loyal group of followers who love our product... we certainly think it's the best! Being a drummer who's drumming on drums while talking to drummers who feel drummish in a drummingly way is something I do and talk about a lot. However, I spend an near equal amount of time with social media, web analytics, and digital asset management. How I came into that world (and brought Pearl Corporation along with me) is a much longer story so remind me to tell you about it when I see you. My relationship with Canto has been a short but enjoyable one as they have delivered on their promises. I was happy to accept their invitation to speak with their audience about our best practices on their platform.
Thanks to Leslie and everyone at Canto for the opportunity... I have to juggle a lot of data/content throughout the day and their platform is intuitive and consistently reliable. Also, I exchanged the picture of me with something a bit more up to date... #egglife |
