I always thought Disney's 'The Black Hole' poster would really translate well for a custom bass drum head. It would have a 5" hole at the 7 o' clock position which would be the black hole in the picture. The tricky part would be when cutting the hole, to cut out the "TH" from the drumhead so it matched the printed logo. This way you'd get a sense of depth. The same would have to be done with the comets flying into the black hole.
Of course, internal miking is preferable because soundguys will literally rip time and space when placing their mic on your kit. So how would you stop the comets and "TH" from flapping everytime you played a note? I have no idea... it's a fictional drumhead story so gimme a break!
The Black Hole drumhead... perfect for the .001% of the audience who follows late 70's sci-fi movies. :)
